The club has developed a number of project boards and prototyping systems that will enable you to develop any one of a number of projects. We provide a range of standard building blocks from which you can put together anything from the simplest to the most complex system.
The Proto-Box System
A range of prototyping products for the causal hobbyist and the serious developer.
The Proto-Box enclosure system is designed by us and manufactured by special agreement with a local engineering firm. This versatile enclosure system can be adapted to suit any project that you may wish to tackle.
Gone are the days where one has to choose one of a pre-determined set of enclosures of which the one you want is just a little to too small and the one you have to select is bigger than you would like but you are stuck with it. You can order these simple, low cost stylish enclosures in any dimension you want starting at a minimum of 100 x 50 x 100 for A, B and C and working your way up to whatever exact size you want.
The enclosures can be ordered in plain bare metal, un-drilled and unpainted, or with holes drilled and tapped and powder-coated in whatever format you want.
In addition, we can also make a professional looking custom faceplate for you that will take your hobby project from something that looks like a hobby project to something that looks like it was made in a factory.

Remember, we are not limited to the above design styles. We can utilize all forms of manufacturing techniques including laser cutting, water cutting, milling, punching and profiling to provide you with a wide range of styling options for your custom project enclosure. Our wide range of finishes includes powder coating, chrome plating, anodizing, polishing, painting and silk screening.
Obviously, you get what you pay for and the Proto-Enclosure is the cheapest entry point for a project enclosure. However if you want to turn that home project into something special that gets all sorts of admiring ooohs and aaahs well, we can produce an enclosure that would make any manufacturer green with envy.
Here are some examples of what we can produce for you with the resources at our disposal.
Note : Products, services and projects offered for sale on this website are subject to a moderate markup which is used to boost club funds. The Potchefstroom amateur radio club is a non-profit organization. This means that while the intention is to make a small profit on sales, we do not divide said profit as dividends between shareholders or club members. All profits are held in the bank account of the club and are used for yearly license fees, services, printing, hosting, maintenance and replacement of communal equipment such as repeaters, upgrading of facilities and equipment and acquisition of new equipment for communal use.
We have taken this route to boost club funds because previous fund raising activities and sources have faded away. For example, we used to get a small donation for providing communication services for cycle races. A very small donation. The word form the cycle racing fraternity now is that because of the huge prizes they have to give the riders, they can no longer afford to give our club a little R 500.00 donation as a thank you to the members for driving their vehicles at own expense all over the place in order to provide a communications infrastructure as the race moves through our region. I think its a poor excuse but it their excuse.
So we look to other activities to boost or club resources.
